A little game of politics anyone?

Retired minister and Alexandria resident Jim Korpik took to the floor Thursday evening (March 4, 2010) during the open discussion period of the Alexandria City Council meeting.

He proceeded to admonish four council members who voted at a prior meeting to adopt an ordinance dictating that when the mayor or a city council member is incapacitated and unable to fulfill their elected duties other council members will be notified. (see Mayor's accident prompts rules change).

He self righteously accused those council members of playing politics and of attempting to punish and embarrass the mayor. He went on to childishly suggest that those council members repay the city for their waste of tax payer dollars in having the ordinance prepared.

Korpik who can come off as feeling intellectually superior toward the other of God’s creatures in his presence is an adamant supporter and cheerleader for the mayor.

What Korpik didn’t expect was a hot sermon delivered to him following the council meeting by one of the council members who did not appreciate his accusations and pomposity. He got caught in his feeble attempt to accuse and scold those of the very game he was playing. He asked for and deserved the wrath he received.
