Smoking ban repeal

In a recent article on Campbell County Connects the Vote on repeal of Campbell County indoor smoking ban is February 16 and will take place at the county administration building in Newport.

It was our understanding that this vote originally was to be held at a meeting at the Campbell County courthouse in Alexandria but we suppose this would too inconvenient for the pro-ban, non-resident outsiders to attend.

If it’s anything like the last meeting of December, when the ban was passed by lame-duck commissioners, let’s make sure that all the pro-ban, non-resident supporters get there early enough to pack the meeting room so that county residents must stand out in the hall.

In another article, Smoking ban repeal: Kenton could follow suit, Kenton County will consider repealing their ban if Campbell County does.

Kenton County who has been the ring leader all along has played Campbell County like a cheap fiddle during this entire process. Boone County has been the smart one by refusing to partake in this circus.

All of the intrigue surrounding this issue has been amusing for the amateur maneuvering by a group of now out-of-office political hacks at the urging of a group of do-gooding, meddlesome non-residents.

We urge repeal of the ban so that our elected officials can stop wasting time and get back to real county business.
